Glad to hear things are well - and great news about being at 50%. How was Florida? Any news on a job or Seattle? Do keep us in the loop as things progress, and let us know if there's anything we can do/answer/etc. As for us, we're likely headed up to Ferke later this week, it'll be good to touch base with the team up there both personally and ministry-wise.
really need to e-mail you again, but we're trying to great everyone via the JC page, so... how are your preparations coming along - support, yes, but relational, spiritual, physical, etc. as well? So looking forward to having you here.
Sounds wonderful! I just wrote someone this morning with a question related to support for you and other Journey Corps members . . . I'll let you know if there are some possibilities there. There is also a West African church in Portland that you could visit - you could inform those you meet about the program and see if there are interested in adding their support as well. I have been once - it is VERY welcoming!
Just thought I'd let you know that your profile is the 4th most visited page on our entire site. People search in Google for your name and find our site more then they search for many other key phrases. Congrats! Your are officially popular, a huge asset to our team, and people are interested in your ministry. God has his hand on you! I'm praying for you!
Hey Beckie! I seem to have a lot of praises on my end today. Finally mailed all my support letters this week, and I already have a few months worth of support taken care of. Working on Rosetta stone, French, right now. I only know small things.. like Le garcon ne nage pas... and Je suis une femme.. haha, but I'm working hard at it. Thank you for your resources! I have been looking at those as well. So you can pray that this French learning sticks in my brain like super glue, and for the people's hearts who are receiving my letters in the next few days! Merci beaucoup!
Hey Rebecca! It was awesome getting to chat with you last week as well!
Just giving you a reminder about sending that list of things to phrases and words to memorize over the week.
Thank you for your prayers, my grampa just got to go home yesterday! Well that's very encouraging! I've been looking at the resources and working on French and it's been a bit difficult, but I'm sure once I'm with people that are also trying to learn, it'll be much easier
Thank you Beckie. I am looking foreword to learning some French.
The Journey Corps program fell into my lap while at the Urbana missions conference. I was struggling with a longing to use the gifts God has blessed me with in engineering to help others and things have been falling into place ever since. I am looking foreword to serving the people of Cote d'Ivoire, particularly in the track of alternative energy.
Prepping for Africa is slow... I have been talking to family and friends about it but I haven't really begun to truly hit the fund raising trail. I just moved though so I'm hopefully to really find a home church, which will help a lot. For french, I won't lie... I'm struggling.
Hello Rebekah! I can tell you right now, I will most definitely needing your help a lot this coming year! I'm not the kind of person that picks up languages super easily but I'm going to have to try really hard to learn French! I would of course absolutely love some prayer for fundraising, and also on a note unrelated to JC, my grampa is having triple bypass surgery on Thursday and the worry is really stressing out my family, so prayer for that would be so great and appreciated
Hi Rebekah! Prepping for Africa is going well, just sending out support letters and trying to talk with people about it as much as possible. Now...the French is a whole new challenge for me! My friend just got back from Paris and has been trying to teach me some common terms. I would absolutely LOVE prayer. I am still looking for a roommate to take my apartment for next year because the original plan fell through, this has been extremely stressful. If you could pray for that situation, that would be great! Is there anything that I can pray for as you prepare?
Things are coming along pretty good. Working on finishing up my support letters and hoping to get them out this week. Then its trusting God and praying that he will give people generous spirits :-) My French is limited to bonjour and oui... makes for a very short conversation :-) I'm excited to learn though! I actually do have a prayer request, although its not Africa-related... I teach a 3rd/4th grade sunday school class at church and have been really struggling with it lately. Would you pray that I have the right attitude about it and that I make the most of the time I have with them? That would be awesome. How are things going for you? Is there anything a can be praying about for you?
Howdy! Prepping for Journey Corps is coming along....a bit of French in there. I need to start kicking my own butt on that and getting in gear with the French thing. I have been practicing swahili a lot more lol, just for fun....I know that swahili isn't really spoken there though hehe.
I have a long way to go as far as getting ready, ESPECIALLY with funds...but I have faith God will bring it all in! How are things going for you?
thanks for the note. I will send a more detailed update for you as you prepare on what is happening here - probably by e-mail due to limits of internet here. thanks for the prayers, know we are praying for you and excited to have you here SOON. - Peter
