Who are we and why are we going to JCWA?

Hey all!  It is way past time for me to begin interacting on the JC web site.  I think I became a member the day after the web site opened.  For you Journeyers, you may have heard about Phil and Mimi's plans to come and join the leadership at JC doing some member care and career coaching.  My purpose today is simply to introduce ourselves.

First of all, we're Aaron's parents.  We pray you won't hold that against us.  No matter what you've heard we're really pretty decent people.  We're really just kids in saggy baggy old bodies.  We started in missions right after our grad school studies.  The year isn't important.  Just know that our greatest concern back then was having our children carried away by Pterodactyls.  It was a few years ago.  We worked in Rwanda until 1996 when we joined the State side staff in Wheaton, IL.  We made the move with the headquarters staff to Littleton, CO in 1999.

We have been Mission Coaches since 1996.  In recent years we have lived and worked in the mid-west on Universities out of an RV.  Gypsies for Jesus is a term we embrace.  Trailer trash works as well if you prefer. The longer we have been out here the more we have noted the struggles of young adults to make career choices that were based on who God made them to be rather than choosing careers simply because they are available.  We could easily fill every day of our lives working with all those that want coaching on such things.

When we heard about Journey Corps and it's main goal of developing young adults for ministry through service and community we knew the planning team had hit on a huge need.  What we didn't know was that as we prayed for leaders to step up to deploy to JCWA that God would use us as one answer to our own prayer.  What a kick that was.

Our life vision statement as a couple is "Develop Next Generation Leaders for Church and Mission".  For some reason the Lord has kept young adults in front of us wherever we have gone.  As the years passed we concluded repeatedly that young adult ministry is what the Lord made us for. So we are committed to joining JCWA later this year.  Please be praying that our partner development goes quickly.

So...this is enough to get us started.  What can we tell you?  Hit us with your questions.  Blessings!

Stephanie!  No one is more excited to get there than us.  We know from our history it isn't all a bed of roses but that's OK...we love a challenge.  We think it will be May before we can come so...hang in there.  Blessings!
