So how does one find God's will? This seems like such an important subject doesn't it? Some might even say that finding God's will for your life is the most important thing in life. Although that sounds noble, I want to propose a more important pursuit.
In the first chapter of Colossians Paul tells his readers how he prays for them. In this prayer he talks about God's WILL. He says that he had not, "ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding." That is a wonderful prayer to pray for someone.
Knowing God's will is so important but I want to point out the next thing he says. Paul Goes on to say, "so as to walk in a manner worthy of the lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God." The order and emphasis of this text points to something more important then knowing God's will. The highlight is on the, "knowledge of God."
Knowing God's will and doing works are all means to an end. They are not an end in themselves. What value is there in knowing what to do and doing it if there is no reward? At first that sounds selfish but I would argue that treating God as your treasure or your reward is the most God honoring thing to do.
So why understand Gods will? In order to know Christ
What is God's will? To know Christ and make him knows (which helps you know him by the way).
What about Journey Corps in all this? We believe in helping people find God's will for their lives BY seeking to know God. As you know him, as you are obedient to Him, as you do works, you begin to know what his will is. Then in turn you get the greatest gift ever MORE OF HIM!!!
