Holly Ackerman Africa update enjoy.

Hello again. Thank you so much for your prayers and support.

So I think this last month I've been learning how perfect God's love is for us. There is no flaw in God's love. I think about how many times I have forgotten this and will still probably forget in the future. If God's love was anything less that perfect then I and none of us would be able to reach it. It's just kind of blowing my mind once again that God loves me so much.

Well here you… Continue

Cote d'Ivoire blog from Holly. enjoy!

Hello again,

This last month I think God has been teaching me to be patient and wait on his timing and not mine.

It's been a busy month. I've been going to the orphanage helping with the kids and just spending time with Nestor and the staff as well. The frustrating this I haven’t been able to get any chickens yet. The place that sells the chicks is not able to get them for some reason. So I've…

Hey hey. Another Blog from Africa!

Hello it's Holly again. Here's yet another blog about my life. Enjoy.

First off I want to talk about what I am ACTUALLY doing. Haha The main thing that I always keep in the back of my mind is that I'm here learning what it means to live as an Ivorian Christian.

1.Going to church and being involved with small groups and church functions.

2. Going to sell clothes in the market at my families business.

3.Going to work in the fields with my… Continue

Changes

Ok so this blog I guess I’m announcing some pretty big news/changes in my journey here in Africa…

The Big news is... I've moving from Korhogo back down to Bouake. I'm doing this because there are more opportunities to work with animals in Bouake then in Korhogo as of now. It's sad because I do miss my family in Korhogo and I'll visit them often. I was a really good goodbye to them and explaining what I wanted to do in Bouake. But I'm moving in with a different Ivorian family…

Holly's Blog

Hello Everyone! Thanks for supporting me on this crazy journey of mine.

So lately God has been teaching me a lot. It's been really humbling for me to realize that me worth is not in what I do but it's who I am. I remember thinking that I came to Africa to serve for a year! In my mind serve meant work, working I…

Moving up north to Korhogo

Hello Everyone

So good news! I found out that I'm moving up to Korhogo to the remainder of my time in the Ivory Coast. There, I will stay with an Ivorian family from the Delefause church. I'll go to that church and be plugged into different ministries during the week. I'm not really sure how it's all going to work out but that has basically been my life for the last three months. So many unknowns about what’s going to happen. But I think that’s how God is going to work the best in… Continue

Christmas and New Years in Cote d'Ivoire

So today 12/22/10 after classes we all went out to play softball with a missionary family who is staying here for Christmas. We played a pretty good game but then had to quit because a helicopter comes and lands in the middle of the field. haha Only in Africa.

So the festivities began basically starting Christmas eve day with a movie marathon of Christmas movies. At night around 8 we all headed to Jamberu, the church I go to, for an all night…

Living in Bouake for ONE MONTH

Hello,

I have now been in Africa for one full month! wow. It's weird living here and already being so adjusted to life as in the culture and just looking back and seeing how scared I was of going into town and not knowing anything. Now I still don't know much but all it's like all this comfort I had at home just kinda melts away after you havent had it in a while. I no longer think "O man…

1st week in Bouake

So first week in Africa. It's really hard for me to describe this last week. I guess information overload. In like ALL ways possible. There has been SO much to do and SO much to learn it's important that I keep on reminding myself that I shouldn't doubt God's power and what he can use me for here no matter where I end up. Basically I feel like a sponge trying to soak up as much information as possible.…
