A weekend snapshot of my ever-moving life…
Our orientation in Bouake was over early, so the Bouake bunch decided to make the trek with us leaders to surprise the Korogo crew on Friday. After a lovely dinner at a poulet chaud restaurant, we all went back to our guest houses, crammed 3 extra girls into the already overflowing sleep space, and tried to sleep. Since I am still in pain from the accident and fighting a stomach bug, I didn’t sleep much. The next morning, we all…

I made it back safe from Bamako. You may have seen some photos on facebook or picasaweb. My best friend tried hard to give us some happy memories eeven though I was in pain and emotional stress. Here's the rest of the story....
We (Dr. Jen, Glenn, Heidi, and I) made the grueling drive from Bamako to Ferke on Thursay (one week ago), then found out that Heidi would be able to continue on to Bouake that evening. I was set enough on going home that I decided to keep going, too.…

Body building!
So...this past week Mimi had a complete knee replacement. She is now my "Bionic Woman". This is all part of getting ready to join you all at CIWA. (Which do you like...CIWA or ICWA? One's English the other French)
I have always told my overseas team members they have to be able to walk five miles and sleep on a concrete floor without a mattress. Well...Mimi and my old bones have been missing the mark so we are upgrading! Both of us will be doing a lot to get ready for…

Who are we and why are we going to JCWA?
Hey all! It is way past time for me to begin interacting on the JC web site. I think I became a member the day after the web site opened. For you Journeyers, you may have heard about Phil and Mimi's plans to come and join the leadership at JC doing some member care and career coaching. My purpose today is simply to introduce ourselves.
First of all, we're Aaron's parents. We pray you won't hold that against us. No matter what you've heard we're really pretty decent…

I didn't even know what to pray for - I wanted to see something on the CT scan so that I would know what my decision should be. But God was moving in other ways. The CT scan was negative. Glenn, Jen, Heidi, and I prayed for clarity in decision. I wanted to stay here, but with my families and friends saying that going back was the only option, I felt that I needed to take that into account.
When Jen, Glenn, and I talked to my families, they agreed that with her diagnosis and…

How do you figure out God's Will?
In a sermon I preached a while back I unpacked this idea based upon Paul's prayer in Colossians 1.9 to know the will of God:
Paul begins by telling them why he prays for them, it’sbecause he has heard about the glorious effects that have sprung up in theirlives because of the Gospel. So Paul is infatuated with the gospel message andhe relays this even further when you look more intently at his petition ontheir behalf…

Christmas and New Years in Cote d'Ivoire
So today 12/22/10 after classes we all went out to play softball with a missionary family who is staying here for Christmas. We played a pretty good game but then had to quit because a helicopter comes and lands in the middle of the field. haha Only in Africa.
So the festivities began basically starting Christmas eve day with a movie marathon of Christmas movies. At night around 8 we all headed to Jamberu, the church I go to, for an all night…

Roofing Project and Christmas Vacation
This Christmas and New Year’s reminded me of a lot of the things I miss but also pointed out the ways God has blessed me here. Christmas day I was able to establish a video connection with my family. It was not
planned which made it all the more encouraging.
At the same time it is easy to get caught up in the relationships and
events God has blessed me with in Cote d’Ivoire. This Christmas was…
