Psalm 145

Posted on July 29, 2010 at 3:28am 0 Comments

This is a modification of an old blog post I did from a few years ago. I was reflecting on it and decided to jot it down.

Psalm 145:8-11” The Lord is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in loving-kindness. The Lord is good to all, and His mercies are over all His works. All your…

Houppert Happenings for the month of July

Posted on July 16, 2010 at 9:12am 1 Comment

So I figured it was about time to get on the blogging bandwagon since this will be our new form of communication for the next few years!

Life has been very eventful in the past few weeks...we have packed up out life in VA and moved back to NY. Since arriving in NY we have been bouncing between my mom's house, and a cottage on the lake with Eric's family. We had amazing weather at the lake and spent every day on the boat. I got up on water skis for the first time, so…

Profile Information

Why are you interest in Journey Corps?
Seeing functional community being lived out through a bunch of Christ followers is what it is all about. We see JC as a step in the right direction towards living like the New Testament church... the one Jesus founded. To live and serve together is what we have been called to do.
Your Heart For Missions
We desire to help unleash our generation of Christ followers into a hungry and destitute world so that people might see and seek the love of Christ and the Gospel. We are a progressive generation and if we can realign ourselves with the New Testament church by being committed to truth we will be used by God to change the world. We must stop compartmentalizing our Christianity and allow it to become visible in every part of our lives.
How Would You Rate Your interest in Missions? 1 being little interest 10 being life calling
We have served cross culturally in a number of "short-term" capacities. Roughly 8 different countries from 2-week to 10-month trips. Seeking the next step in more "long-term" direction. Cross cultural ministry has been a huge part of our lives so far as we desire to to continue to serve Christ in whatever capacity He sees fit.
What interests, abilities, and gifts has God given you?
Eric - I love being outdoors, hiking, backpacking, traveling, experiencing cultures, and seeking to understand my function as a Christian in this world. Megan - I love building relationships and getting to know people through discipling and counseling. I love to run, travel, see new places and eat good food.

Well, we're already through all the app stuff - and so are working through our partnership development phase before heading off. God willing we hope to fly to Cote d'Ivoire in late-April, so we're just working and praying for more support partners to come our way. We're planning on a 3yr stay serving in leadership - me heading up the leadership development track and many elements of leadership development with all leaders and Journeyers and Katrina will be starting by working with the bookkeeping for the program and see what else God brings her way. We're definitely excited to head over there soon - though it's been good to be here in Littleton and be able to connect with the home staff before then too.

Glad to hear you and your wife are on the journey of application. We completed that phase a while back and are definitely looking forward to getting to Cote d'Ivoire soon to begin putting into place all the ideas of what Journey Corps is/can be. What brought you to decide on Journey Corps and what length of time are you looking at for this next "long-term" direction?
