Theses Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Us four girls in Korhogo just finished a Bible study on joy. It was a really great reminder to always rejoice in the Lord and find joy in every day life. Even when things get hard or just less exciting than when I first arrived, it's so important to have joy! So I've been thinking a lot about all my favorite things here and trying to make sure I find joy even in the little things. Here's a list of my favorite things about life in Korhogo, Cote d'Ivoire.- Frozen Tampico. It's basically fake…See More

Volleyball

So as I had mentioned before, I had the possibility of participating in the P.E. class and playing volleyball at College Don Bosco. Everything worked out and I started last week!Monday and Tuesday mornings, I go to the school and participate in the class. I taught them how to play volleyball, which was interesting because none of them had every played before. I also just participate in whatever they're doing. To be honest, I'm not really sure what my importance there is, but they seem to really…See More

My Decision to Stay a Second Year!

I'm going to assume if you're reading my blog, you've been following them throughout the last nine months, so I'm going to skip the summary of the year and get straight to the point! Now the choice has been presented to me to stay with Journey Corps for a second year. A year ago I said, "Sure God, I'll give you this year of my life and serve you in Africa. After that, I'm going straight back to America to continue with my plans and go to school, because that's what I should do." Silly me. God…See More

So what's been going on these days? Welllll.....

The Bible study I talked about in an earlier blog has started. It's every Wednesday at noon at a high school in my neighborhood, College Bethlehem. It's a private Christian school but just like Christian schools in the U.S. not all the students are Christian. So it's interesting that out of the entire school maybe 10-20 students come. As you can imagine, being at lunch time, some kids would rather go home to eat than come. It reminds me a lot of my days in the Christian club at my high school,…See More

"Great post "Tricher"! Looking forward to seeing you Wednesday kid. Had fun yesterday getting my "air bath"! Eric was with me and got to see the foolishness of a 52 year old wannabe pilot. Greetings to your family, Rod"

I didn't realize you are from Gilroy! I've been there dozens of times! And hume! Ahhhh, so glad that someone on the team other than myself and Naomi have experience the wonders of Hume Lake! I'll be there soon!

Hume Lake is awesome! I worked up there a few summers ago at Meadow ranch. It's pretty much the place I drive when I need fresh air/perspective.

Hi Tricia!
How is support raising going? Do you have any specific prayer requests that I can pray with you about? I can't wait to meet you this fall!

Hey there! How did your Grandpa's surgery go? I'll definitely keep your support raising in my prayers. It can be a challenge sometimes. I was reading 2 Corinthians 8-9 this morning, and it really encouraged me and reminded me that when we get the word out about what we're doing and what our financial needs are we're giving people a chance to "excel in the grace of giving" :-) Things are going pretty well for me. Just got my first batch of support letters out and working on getting some of the paperwork finished up and in the mail.

Hey Tricia! I will definitely be praying for support raising and your grandpa. I hope to hear from you on Friday about God's provision and physician-nature with his recovery! No worries about your hesitancy with languages -- I taught in an innercity DC school where kids could barely even read, and I still had them saying something! Start looking at the resources on the JC team site to get you started.
