Plane tickets and cupcakes
I suppose you could say that now it's official. Last week, our plane tickets to Cote d'Ivoire were bought! October 28th is the date, and it's a one way. It's finally starting to feel like it's really happening.. though I'm sure I won't fully realize it until next month sometime. - Why are you interest in Journey Corps?
- intentional community, being able to use my passions and talents in a missional setting in which I can live with people and walk with them.
- Your Heart For Missions
- God broke my heart for children at risk in war-torn areas of Africa. I want to use my passion for art and art therapy background with children who have seen more traumatic things than I have, to spend time with them and be part of the healing in anyway I can.
- How Would You Rate Your interest in Missions? 1 being little interest 10 being life calling
- Recently, I have volunteered at the Simple Way's Potter Street camp in Philadelphia, at my local women's crisis shelter and spent a summer as a camp counselor and art leader in a salvation army camp (camp Ladore), and built houses for needy families in Tijuana, Mexico. I spent a few summers in high school doing short-term cross-cultural missions: in China and Romania.
All of these experiences have brought me closer to God, by reminding me that the world is so much bigger than the everyday bubble I sometimes get myself into. I most definitely feel the most alive when I have been in these beautiful places, being a part of God's work there.

mark charles newport said… - im mark newport and have seen your story on journey. praise God for your support being met. to me this is a sign from above you are on right track. i loved hearing your story about kids lives you've touched. i'm a suppoter of journey corps and traveling to visit school in bouake and see rod and angelika and then visiting hospital in ferkessedougou and the boeses as they have continued work my aunt and uncle started in 1961 and my y=uncle gave his life there christmas day 1965. im in country sep7th-oct 5 so wont meet you but god bless your time and just ask if you need help on travel.dont worry about snakes and spiders as they will already have there fill on me mark newport
