Look out RCI...HERE WE COME!

OK.  We won't be much of a splash but we are really content to finally have our plans to get to the field in May.  The exact day isn't decided because we are waiting for tickets. We have been feeling blessed along the way.  While this interim of building our partner team has seemed slow it really has been fast.  Some take years.  But being an impatient person has made it seem like it was slow.  I loved my "impatience". I think there is a lesson here.  We hear again and again about "His timing".…See More

Where do blessings come from?

In way of an update...we've had a great holiday season with our family in Colorado.  Mimi and I are back in the frozen tundra of Minnesota.  Over our time in CO we gained five new financial partners!  We have five others who have committed to start giving soon.  It would seem that in spite of ourselves we will be able to deploy to Benkadi some time in the Spring.I've been thinking about how blessed we are.  Let me recount some of the blessings.  First, my brother Greg and his wife Cheryl have…See More

Why are you interest in Journey Corps?
Mimi and I are joining the Journey Corps Team in Spring 2012 We are excited to be re-deploying to Africa. But we're even more excited to be coaching the next generation of leaders for Church and Mission. What a ride it's going to be!
Your Heart For Missions
I met the Lord personally at the ripe old age of 9 years old. As the Lord moved me ahead it was obvious that serving him in a way that had international impact for the Kingdom was His design on my life. 2 Mid terms in College confirmed that. 14 years in Rwanda honed our direction to "Make next generation leaders for Church and Mission."
How Would You Rate Your interest in Missions? 1 being little interest 10 being life calling
30 years with WorldVenture! Been around the block at least a couple of times. NO REGRETS.
What interests, abilities, and gifts has God given you?
I'm mechanically minded. But I love people even more.

New Starts...Old issues

OK...it's a new year. Frankly, I am never ready for a new year. But the new year comes anyhow. Being ready is way over-rated. The older I get the more I enjoy letting things happen rather than trying to "control" outcomes by ruminating and preparing. Sure...there are the things you "gotta do". But letting go and not thinking I can do anything is teaching me a couple of things. First, Some things are just in God's hands. Like the support we need to go to Benkadi. I have to do my partner… Continue

Ya can't make it happen!

OK. I guess you can make some things happen. Throw the switch and the light turns on. At least if you're in America. Most other places...maybe not. But even in less reliable "public services" countries you can establish if it works or not. So you can make those things happen.

But the things you "can" make happen really only amount to moving the puzzle pieces around. Only God can make them come together to form the picture He has in mind for you and your life.

So...this is… Continue

Phil - Journeyers have arrived well, are diving into things fully, and working through some of the challenges (created and circumstantial) that they are faced with. Been good to have the members of the JC home office here interacting with the RCI JC crew. Lots of joys in these first few weeks for many, a few down points for some, and we know God's doing stuff none of us know about.

Great to see you on here... You must proud of your little boy! He helped build this site and is doing a lot of foundational work for Journey Corps. Definitely more nuts and bolts stuff than I am doing! He and I are very different personality-wise but are loving the shared cubicle life together...
