Why are you interest in Journey Corps?
I like that young people can through this program get going and experience what missions is first hand before they even go to college so that they can see the challenges and the training they will need and then come back and find and take the additional training it will take to succeed in their field of calling by God.
Your Heart For Missions
My heart has always been with young people going into all the world to preach the gospel, for it is the calling upon each of us as believers. My calling started before I was a Christian as I watched other missionaries coming home and seeing the pictures of Africa and when I began traveling around the world I realized as I met believers from India, China, Brazil, Korea and Ethiopia and South Sudan, that this calling was from God.
How Would You Rate Your interest in Missions? 1 being little interest 10 being life calling
On 9/11 while ministering a South Sudanese walked up to me and told me that "My People Need You!". So their immediate need during the war was a boat so we raised $12,000 to buy The "Boat of Hope" that served and saved the lives of 250,000 people of the Eastern Upper Nile and Western Ethiopia. That was 8 years and since then I have met and spoke with and ministered to hundreds of South Sudanese in my own backyard here in the US. That lead me to beginning to understand their culture and needs as a people and then one year ago March 2009 I was asked by the people of Maker in the Eastern Upper Nile to come and meet them as they wished to thank me for my work on their behalf.

Hi Les, so glad you joined JC. Maybe you could come out here and tell, sing and teach us your story some day. That would be encouraging to the Ivorian and International youth here.

Hi Les! That is amazing that you are going to be able to communicate with and reach so many people! I'm interested to see how God will use your abilities while you are there! I am also a songwriter, though very early on in my writing. I've only been writing for about a year now. I'm so excited to see how God will use arts in Africa!

Good story of God's redemptive power through a left handed mazungu. You should talk with Jim Copeland our JC Director, his contact info is on the next steps link at the top of this page.

That would be sweet. Shoot a quality documentary on this new "Christian Peace Corps", demonstrating that the gospel cares deeply for the real physical needs of all people. The whole gospel to the whole person!
