SUPPORT RAISING MEME

"This is for those of you out there doing support raising. Hang in there and keep sharing God's heart for your life. Don't be discouraged and do not think more highly of yourself than you ought, and have fun living in that balance!"

The Seven Deadly Sins of Support Raising

Posted on October 27, 2011 at 4:26am 1 Comment

Not that this is all that encouraging to those of you who are in the process of raising funds. However, I think the merit of it is still to be had as you continue to to follow Christ in and amidst the support raising process. God wants to do something in you, and these just happen to be the things that God is showing me.…

How do you figure out God's Will?

Posted on January 5, 2011 at 1:44pm 0 Comments

In a sermon I preached a while back I unpacked this idea based upon Paul's prayer in Colossians 1.9 to know the will of God:

Paul begins by telling them why he prays for them, it’sbecause he has heard about the glorious effects that have sprung up in theirlives because of the Gospel. So Paul is infatuated with the gospel message andhe relays this even further when you look more intently at his petition ontheir behalf…

Discipleship as a Posture of Receiving

Posted on November 30, 2010 at 6:52am 1 Comment

I have been reflecting some on this idea of discipleship as reception, given my own walk and given the future potential of living as a follower of Jesus overseas these are some of the thoughts that have come to mind in the process. It seems that from the beginning of this walk, we are born into this notion of receiving, because we receive grace, so that we can enter into this journey. The walk of faith is born in, continued on, and sustained by grace. But this entails receiving it. I find this… Continue

Very exciting you are starting the process, it's been a while since we started the process, about 3 years ago, but I'm sure we could encourage you.  Jessica and I live in St. Paul, MN, where are you from?  It would be fun to get together sometime.

I think the best motive to do missions is the Gospel.  Not just bringing the gospel to others but letting it function in your own heart.  As the good of salvation works in your heart it will compel you to share that good with others.  I think physical obedience is never a good enough motive to do right.  God commands the impossible of us, to obey out of a heart of love and compassion.  Do missions because God did missions for you.   I know I am probably preaching to the Choir but you asked :)
