Have you ever looked at the process of going to serve in another country and become overwhelmed?
Journey Corps aims to streamline the process of getting you to the ground in another culture. We streamline things for you in the following ways:
Do you have passions and skills you don’t know what to do with or where to use them?
Our goal is to make Journey Corps an organic place where your gifts can take root and grow. We will go to great lengths to create opportunities or find opportunities for you to thrive in your gifting.
Have you ever felt like you don’t have the training necessary to be an effective missionary? Or that people you hear about going to do missions have bible degrees and seem more qualified.
We are a leadership/missions training program. We don’t expect everyone to be trained before they come. We expect Journeyers to be Christ followers who are willing to learn. The goal is to equip you with the tools you need for a lifestyle of Christian service, whether that be overseas or back home in the states.
Effective missions takes a long time and the idea of going overseas for a lifetime is overwhelming. More and more people in the United States are taking short term missions trips to serve on small projects. While short term missions is a good thing, the long lasting effects come from integrating into a culture, not dipping into one.
We believe that Journey Corps' one-to two-year model will accomplish three important things.
First, by the time you have finished your experience serving you will have learned the culture well enough to make a lasting impact on it.
Second, by the time you are finished, you will understand the value of integrating into a culture and desire to either serve long term yourself, or go home and influence/equip others to do so.
Finally, we believe that you will develop the skills to integrate into new cultures quickly, so that you can be more effective no matter where you go.
Sub-Sahara Africa has seen the greatest church growth in all of human history, going from 10 million Christians to 340 million in this past century. God is moving in Africa and His church is growing. We desire to be workers who support what God is doing in the world by accepting formal requests from the local church to send them helpers.
Journey Corps hopes to provide a needy church with leaders who are equipped to meet the needs. When God's people call for help, we want to answer them.
