Everything will change. A Ministry of WorldVenture.
Journey Corps is an opportunity for young adults to give one or two years of their life to serving in cross-cultural ministry. Participants (Journeyers) will be exposed to various types of ministry while they seek direction from God for their future. It is a season of intentionality where Journeyers are transformed by ministry for ministry. We offer things like; hands-on experience, mentors for the journey, living in community, over 65 years of missions experience, multi-cultural teams, and practical and formal education.
For more than 65 years, WorldVenture has been training national leaders around the world. Journey Corps is now leveraging this experience to equip the next generation kingdom workers. Two years ago, a concept paper was circulated to WorldVenture leadership outlining a service program that would allow young adults to be equipped to serve within a cross-cultural environment for up to two years, this was the beginning of Journey Corps!
To see young adults' lives radically transformed for God's Kingdom by engaging in intentional community and cross-cultural ministry.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is at the center of Journey Corps. The only thing of value that Journey Corps has to offer is Jesus. As each Journeyer cultivates a relationship with his or her Lord, they find their meaning, identity, strength, and hope in Him. They can then give that to others as they serve. What Jesus did on the cross is what changes people, whether that be believers growing in maturity or non-believers coming to know Him for the first time.
Life long learners:Being a lifelong learner is important for any field of work. For Journey Corps, it will be a primary focus. Being learners requires a mentality of humility. One of the most powerful ways to serve in another culture is to be humble before the nationals and learn from them. We want each Journeyer to learn the culture by submitting to the local body of Christ. Lifelong learners, specifically cross-cultural learners, are constantly expanding their view of who God is. Being open to those paradigm shifts is part of the journey.
Leadership and Influence. We want each Journeyer to learn to influence people with the gospel of Christ by serving them, which ties back to having an attitude of humility. Servant leaders seek to learn the real needs of people, not the perceived needs. They then meet those real needs with hearts of service.
God has gifted every person in His body with specific strengths and has also placed a calling on their life (Eph. 2:10). We believe that if a person can capitalize on their strengths and serve where they're called, then they will be an unstoppable tool in God's hand. Not only will they be effective for God's kingdom, but they will be doing what they were designed for.
"So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them" (Rom 12:5-6).
Journey Corps' aim is to help people find their sweet spot. To find that sweet spot, we hope to provide an atmosphere of intentionality where Journeyers can ask God about where they fit in His plan. This intentional atmosphere is a place where many distractions are silenced and you learn to ask three questions

Joining a program is far less weighty than Joining God’s mission. Journey Corps gives you a chance to be intentional about seeking God and finding what your role is in His plan. There is something truly powerful about seeking God inside a context different from your own.
This is not like any short-term missions trip you have been a part of. Journey Corps is not a program, its cross-cultural life. It is not just survival; it is full of the relationships that make life sweet like family and friends. Beyond the deep sense of community, you will have with your team new relationships form with people from across the globe in the country you will life. One Journeyer put it like this, “We have a history with them and we feel belonging here now (Naomi Smith).” Your journey begins as you embrace the unfamiliar until it is familiar just as Christ became one of us in order to reach us.
Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Are you ready to trust God to make you who he wants you to be? Are you ready to get serious about serving God with no strings attached? If not, don’t come.
Community: The friendships you will build with your team will be your lifeline. You are not alone to process the challenges you face. Your team will meet often for encouragement, worship, and debriefing. Experiences and friendships bind Journey Corps teams together.
God’s Will: Finding God’s will for your life is more about learning to trust Him no matter what comes your way. Your journey will give you so many opportunities to trust God with your life and your future. Your journey across the world will help you be intentional about seeking God’s direction for the future. Everything you do will be filtered through these three questions. Who am I? Who is God? What is my role?
Change the World: There are so many needs around the world. What do you bring to the table? Most importantly you bring Christ who is the eternal solution to all our needs. You may also bring a skill, a trade, or a compassionate heart to love and serve others. If you want to change the world, it’s done through relationships. Jesus lived thirty years among us before starting his public ministry. Your journey will be more effective as you set aside your need to accomplish tasks and focus on relationships with people. The you will be able to change the world one friendship at a time..
